Our Havanese Boys & Girls

AKC  Smallhaven’s Oreo aka Oreo

My love affair with Havanese began when I brought “Oreo” home as a puppy. At the time, I had never seen a Havanese in person only pictures in books, because the information age had not taken off yet. She epitomizes the winning personality and changeable colors of the breed! My “Oreo cookie” puppy matured into a beautiful blue Irish Pied. She was always willing to go for a drive, play ball with my son, or snuggle on the couch. After whelping three litters and my first two Bred-by champions (Smuckers and Gizmo) she retired to being “Top Dog” at our house. Even though she crossed over the rainbow bridge a few years ago, she will never be forgotten.

AKC CH Signature Jam N Jelly aka Smuckers

Signature Havanese began with the birth of Smuckers. She possesses all the qualities I was looking for as my foundation stock. Being an owner/exhibitor with by first Bred-by, I was ecstatic when she captured a major win while going Best of Opposite Sex over specials at her first show in Atlanta. She finished her championship with three major wins and a Best of Breed in hometown where her show career began. Having family and friends there to share the experience with us, was memorable! To paraphrase a famous slogan, “with a name like Smuckers, she’s got to be good!”

AKC CH Signature Whatchamacallit aka Gizmo

Gizmo was Signature Havanese’s first and only stud dog. From his early days in the whelping box, he captured everyone’s attention, with his playful personality and near perfect body type. He accomplished an impossible feat by completing his championship in one weekend at six months of age! That is why Greenville, South Carolina will always hold a special place in my heart. He was shown as a special, loved the show ring, and was invited to AKC National Championship Dog Show. Additionally, he has sired several champions, and now enjoys life away from the show ring.

AKC CH Los Perritos Mi Regalo aka Libby

Libby is the latest addition to Signature Havanese, I want to extend a special Thank You to Lynn Nieto of Los Perritos for entrusting me with this spectacular girl. Lynn is both a friend and mentor. She willingly shares her knowledge of the breed and the sport while offering encouraging words and advice. The literal translation of her registered name is “The puppy my gift.” She was born on my anniversary and given to me as a Christmas present. When my husband first saw her, he called her “little bit,” because of her small size. We call her Libby for short. She is a charming black parti with superior type and over the top personality! She finished her championship rather quickly, but did not enjoy the ring especially the car rides to the shows. So, her show career was short-lived. We were looking forward to breeding her, but motherhood was not in her future. She currently enjoys the status as our only Havanese, and the boss of our Berners.
